I am in Texas an not too long ago I saw a commercial that said they offered insurance that covers whoever is driving your car. That you get the insurance and it will cover any person including yourself?
What is the name of the car insurance that covers the car no matter who is driving it?
Not all of them... some policies allow for the reduction in liability limits (down to the minimum required by law) if someone is driving your vehicle and not listed on the policy, period. The states that allow this usually hold the _driver_ responsible, not the owner.
As mentioned, most policies will cover any driver, as long as they should not be listed on the policy, but not all will.
I just read that GEICO offered a rider to insure anyone driving your vehicle.
So while many policies will automatically provide this coverage, it's not all polices. Also, some carries appear to offer riders to include this coverage.
Reply:insuranceman has the correct answer, he is an insurance agent in Texas
Reply:All of them. Insurance covers the CAR, not the person.
Reply:I don't remember seeing the commercial, but, in Texas - MOST "standard" companies will cover any driver in your car.
It's NOT a good habit to get in to and I am NOT advising that you let anyone drive your car, but, if you let me drive your car - as long as I am licensed and not doing anything illegal, I would be covered.
Now....some police may issue a citation if you are stopped and your name is not on the ID Card - but, that should be dismissed if you show proof of insurance.
Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
