What is the name of that over the counter pill for quitting smoking?

The one I am talking about is one where you gradually quit smoking. You take the pill each day, then eventually your taste for the cigarettes goes away and you don't want them anymore. You are allowed to smoke while you're taking them (if you so desire, but eventually you won't want to smoke)....Anyone know?

What is the name of that over the counter pill for quitting smoking?
I am guessing you mean Chantix, if this is the one PLEASE DON'T TRY IT.

I have heard so many horror stories that I can not believe that people would even suggest it as an option.

Check out this link for some such horror stories

Chantix has many side effects. These include nausea (30%), sleep problems (insomnia, nightmares, strange %26amp; vivid dreams), constipation, gas and vomiting.

Because Chantix works on the brain there are many cases where people who take the drugs report strange behavioural changes. People have known to become depressed, agitated, aggressive, angry and even suicidal. Some have taken their own life or have died as a result of behavioural changes due to taking Chantix.

Smoking is more of a psychological addiction than a physical one. If you really want to quit you must discover the reasons why you smoke and then eliminate or change these thought processes. Trust me, you do not need to take drugs to achieve this. Once you deal with the psychological side of smoking it makes the quitting process easy.

Reply:Like they said- I'm pretty sure you're talking about Chantix- which will need a script.

Before you jump into anything like that, though- please make sure you do some research on the drug. I looked into this some time ago and heard (and read) from many accounts that it gives you very vivid and strange nightmares. Please look into the side effects before paying so much for it but keep in mind that it affects certain people differently.

On the good side, I guess there are several levels to go through, which can become very expensive.... BUT I've also read many accounts that the second level is hardly even needed.

Just sharing some info I've learned about, so far. Good luck with kicking the habit. You'll live much longer.
Reply:Re the side side effects: I had the vivid dreams, and they were nothing. Some people can't tolerate it, but most can. Well worth a try, as long as you aren't stupid enough to keep using it if you get depressed.
Reply:There is no OTC pill for quitting smoking, only patches and gum. It sounds like you might be taking about the new pill Chantix, but it is prescription (well at least in the US it is).
Reply:it's called Chantix,but it is not otc. i took it %26amp; i quit,it works wonders,but is about $100 month.

it's recommended that you take it for 6 months.
Reply:Chantix is a prescription drug. It has lots of side effects, depression and suicide (39 people dead to date).
Reply:Chantix, but it's not OTC. You need an Rx.
