What are the names of some authors similar to Tom Clancy?

I want to buy a book for one of my friends, but he's a really picky reader.

The only thing I know about his book taste though besides that is that he absolutely loves Tom Clancy and has read every one of his books.

What are the names of some authors similar to Tom Clancy?
These sites list Tom Clancy readalikes:

Some of the authors I've read, some I haven't.

I would also recommend Vince Flynn, who writes great thrillers. His first novel is Term Limits (a definite twist on that phrase) and his first Mitch Rapp book (a special ops guy who works - loosely - for the CIA) is called Transfer of Power. I've read all of his books so far, and they are truly difficult to put down.

Another author you might consider is Robert Ludlum and his Bourne trilogy. There are other books in this series, but not written by Ludlum.

Another good one is Days of Drums by Philip Shelby.

If you look at the bottom of this page http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/c/tom-... you will see a list of authors and books which Tom Clancy recommends. They may be worth considering.

I hope this helps.
Reply:The books of Stephen Coonts and Dale Brown are fairly similar, so you might want to look into those. See below for titles and descriptions. At the bottom of each page is a listing for authors that might be similar, so you can check through those as well.

Other authors you might want to investigate: John Birmingham, Matthew Reilly, Clive Cussler and Nelson DeMille. Click through on some of the other names or suggestions on each author page, and you should be able to find something that might be suitable.
