Is there a way to file for bankruptcy without your name being in the newspaper?

I have a lot of debt and need to file bankruptcy, but don't want my name in the paper. Is there a way to not get it in my local newspaper?

Reply:In Ontario, your name would have to be listed in the Ontario Gazette... so as to identify to your creditors that they have to stop hounding you.

We could assume that they would all read the mail sent to them by the trustee, but some of them will ignore that if they do not see the pronouncement in the Gazette. It is just protocol.

Reply:Not all newspapers publish bankrupcy fillings. But if yours does, there isn't anything you can do about it - filing for bankrupcy is public record.
Reply:Nope.

If you file bankruptcy, you have to go to court.

Court records are public.
