What is the name of the long tubes they use in special ops & military which you break and it emits light?

I've usually see em in the movies and stuff like that. Little long tubes like hand held flares which upon breaking or twisting emits faint green light sort of like the radium stickers and stuff like that and are these available in military surplus stores?

What is the name of the long tubes they use in special ops %26amp; military which you break and it emits light?
The term we always used for them was "Chem-Lites." Didn't matter what color or where they came from. The color of them is dictated by the color of the plastic tube that the liquid is in.

You should be able to find them at most outdoor/sporting good stores, possibly a military surplus store, and even Wal-Mart.
Reply:aren't they just a high-tech version of *light sticks* (such as you can pick up at the dollar store)? my kid loves them
Reply:Cyalume sticks. You can get them at camping stores too. They come in a variety of colours and sizes and you can order them from www.amazon.com as well.
Reply:chem lights.
Reply:Ahh yes the chem-light. If you wanna have some fun with some new private send him up to the platoon sgt and have the pvt ask for batteries for one, then have him ask for a PRC(called prick in army terms)E7.
Reply:chemlights. Standard issue halloween glowstick.
Reply:Here in NZ I think they're called cyanolume sticks. They're widely available in shops and they're useful in civil emergency kits, along with candles and a torch. They're useful as a replacement for a torch where there's flammable vapour and you don't want sparks. They get their name from the colour of the light they emit; cyan, or blue-green.
Reply:Glow sticks? If those are what your looking for you can buy them at wal-mart or somthing.
Reply:chem lights...........break and shake
Reply:Glow Sticks (not sure of brand names)

You can find them at wall mart also under hunting supplies.

They are incredibly useful, we were really creative and used them all the time when I was in!
