What is the name of the structure that collects and drains bile? If this structure is removed due to health problems, how might this person still "live a normal life?"

What is the name of the structure that collects and drains bile?
Gallbladder as someone mentioned. You can still live a normal life without one. however the patient may find that eating certain foods such as fatty foods and salads are harder to digest. Occasionally diarrhea will occur if you eat these foods.
Reply:The liver produces bile which is then stored in the gallbladder. If the gallbladder needs to be removed, it may have some after effects depending on the foods eaten. I had mine out in 2003 and I've been eating whatever I want without any ill effects. You can live without a gallbladder.
Reply:Your liver. I don't know about "living a normal life" without one, though. Sounds like a homework question to me...
Reply:it is the gallbladder and I just had mine removed yesterday---better than living with daily pain----and then instead of storing it your liver just pumps the bile right into your intestines. I haven't had any ill effects yet but I heard there may be times when I will urgently need to use the bathroom after eating so I am being careful not to eat greasy/fatty foods, but I have also heard that it doesn't affect everyone this way.
